How to Improve Your Singing Voice

Improving your voice isn't about singing louder or longer. It's about removing effort in the wrong places and adding support in the right ones.

Start from the breath

Low, relaxed breathing gives the voice a steady stream of air to work with. If your shoulders rise as you inhale, you're likely pulling air high into the chest and creating tension before you've sung a note.

Warm up properly, every time

Five to ten minutes of gentle sirens, lip trills and humming prepares the voice far better than launching into a difficult song.

Record yourself

A phone recording is the fastest feedback loop in singing. You'll hear pitch drift, breath placement and tension you can't notice while performing.

Practise in short, focused blocks

Twenty minutes with a clear goal beats an hour of repeating a song from the top. Isolate the phrase that isn't working and fix that.
