Looking After Your Voice

Your voice is part of your body. Treated well it stays flexible for decades; pushed carelessly it tires and complains.

Hydration matters more than you think

Vocal folds work best when the whole body is hydrated. Water taken consistently through the day beats a glass just before singing.

Rest is training

Quiet days after heavy singing are part of good technique, not a sign of weakness.

Warning signs

Persistent hoarseness beyond two weeks, pain when singing or a sudden loss of range should be checked by a GP or ENT specialist.
